Director. Actor. Artist.

Hi there!

I'm Molly Shayna Cohen, (she/they) a multi / mixed media theatre artist whose work centers on moments of transformation and the ephemerality in all things. Since moving to New York from Baltimore in 2022, I have worked at Mabou Mines, Theaterlab, The Public, En Garde Arts, New Victory Theatre, and more. I serve as the Associate Artistic Director of Theatre of the Electric Mouth, founding member of film collective Lux Daze Media, and company member of the award-winning experimental theatre group The Acme Corporation. I was the recipient of the Best Actor of Baltimore Award in 2020, and am a current MFA Directing Candidate (2025) at Brooklyn College.

My work spans past the theatre realm, as they was a recipient of The Maryland Humanities Major Grant (FY 19) for my installation Weaving a New Narrative; an interactive exhibit spanning multiple campuses in The Baltimore Collegetown Consortium. This project ran throughout the entirety of April with supplemental humanities and educational based programming, guest speakers, creative community engagement, and more. This instillation dealt with sexual violence by focusing on the relationship we have with clothing and our bodies and how these concepts together impact our journey to becoming survivors. For months I interviewed survivors from of all walks of life within the Baltimore community to more fully enrich this installation. If this topic resonates with you and you'd like to share about your own experience, contact me to start a conversation. Though this specific project has concluded, the conversation never does.

Check out my resumes, including my work as a costume designer, teaching artist, and figure model for more information, and feel free to reach out with any inquiries or questions!

"The standout performance in this competently acted production comes from Molly Shayna Cohen, who aces the quirky diction and mannerisms of Raylynn’s friend Asha."
